Cerbera engine & cooling alternative parts

This page lists known donor-vehicle and aftermarket alternatives for engine and cooling system parts on the TVR Cerbera (AJP V8 4.2/4.5 and Speed Six). Many of these components were sourced by TVR from mainstream manufacturers, so the equivalent part from the original donor or its supplier is often far cheaper than a marque-specific replacement.

Always cross-check the physical part against your car before fitting — TVR specifications varied through the production run, and pulley sizes, connectors and electrical characteristics can differ even between visually similar parts. Take particular care with anything affecting fuel delivery, ignition or charging.

Measure the existing alternator belt before ordering — length can vary with pulley wear and accessory fitment.

The QTH134 alternative opens earlier (78 °C) and has a different angle between its outlets to the original QTH221 — useful in hot climates or for hard road use, but check it physically fits your housing before relying on it. The Audi expansion tank needs one mounting corner trimmed for clearance.

The fuel filter mounting bolt is notorious for seizing — have an M8 × 50 mm stainless bolt, two M8 washers and an M8 Nyloc nut ready before you start. Fuel system work must be carried out with the system depressurised and away from ignition sources.

The Land Rover alternator pulley is the wrong type — swap the original TVR pulley onto the new unit before fitting. For the Speed Six starter, note that the cheaper Euro Car Parts 402110081 (BMW E30 86–91) is only 1.2 kW; the Speed Six really wants the 1.5 kW unit, particularly for hot starts.

Fuel pumps, injectors, lambda sensors, coil packs and crank sensors all affect engine running and safety. Where a cross-reference looks correct on paper, confirm electrical resistance, flow rate and connector type against the original before fitting, and have the car checked on a diagnostic tool afterwards if you’ve replaced anything in the engine management chain.
